Georgette Gomez is running in California’s 53rd Congressional District. Gomez is the first LGBTQ Latina to be elected to the San Diego City Council and was unanimously chosen as Council President. During her tenure on the San Diego City Council, she has expanded affordable housing, strengthened protections for low-income renters, and implemented the city’s landmark Climate Action Plan, delivering millions in new funding for services including street repairs, parks and libraries. Prior to serving on the City Council, Gomez was the Associate Director for the Environmental Health Coalition and worked as a victims’ advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Gomez was born and raised in San Diego where she still resides with her partner.
