Gina Ortiz Jones is running in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District. Jones served as the Director for Investment for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, was an advisor for the Defense Intelligence Agency, and served as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Air Force. During her tenure at the U.S. Trade Representative, Jones worked as a Senior Advisor for Trade Enforcement, a position that was created by President Obama’s Executive Order in 2012. Jones made headlines in 2018 as the LGBTQ candidate who lost to will Hurd by less than 1%. Soon after, she announced she’d be running again, in what is now an open seat.
