Ruben is the proud son of Hispanic immigrants, a Marine Corps combat veteran, and a first generation college student. As a community leader, he is devoted to ensuring that every American has the right to the American Dream.

Ruben began his journey in public service advocating for military members' support away from home and upon their safe return. Ruben understands the struggles that his constitutions face, and is working to ensure every American has a shot at succeeding. Through his work in Congress, he has fought to uphold Tribal sovereignty, tackle issues like income inequality, the cost of higher education, and immigration reform.. He is also a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. In the House, he co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act and the My Body, My Data Act, which protect women’s health care providers and sensitive medical data. As an advocate for the right to choose, Ruben has and will continue to advocate for women’s rights as he fights to waive the filibuster to codify federal protection for Roe v. Wade.
