Alyse Galvin

A LEADER FOR ALASKA

Alyse Galvin is a third-generation Alaskan, who is dedicated to improving the livelihood and economic opportunities for Alaskan’s. In 2014, frustrated by the lack of funding for schools, Galvin led a small group of parents to resist educational budget cuts. The group, Great Alaska Schools, grew from 40 members into a grassroots force of over 4,000 across the state, forcing lawmakers to take their demands seriously, restore funding, and improve public education. She was noted for being able to save over $100 million in budget cuts to Alaskan public schools. She went on to expand early childhood education for Alaskan kids at the public-private partnership Best Beginnings, and serve Alaskans under the leadership of two governors to improve the state’s public schools. In 2018, Galvin ran for Alaska’s at-large seat and came within 7 points of winning the seat.
