Washington D.C. - Today, CHC BOLD PAC Chairwoman Linda Sánchez released the following statement after Representative Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) announced that he will not run for re-election in 2024:
“In his over 20 years of public service, Rep. Tony Cárdenas fought tirelessly for hard-working families in California and Latina/os across the country. He embodies what it means to be a true public servant – fighting hard every day for the people he represents, and doing what’s right even when it’s not popular,” said CHC BOLD PAC Chairwoman Linda Sánchez.
“Congressman Càrdenas has had a distinguished and impactful career. He served as Chairman of CHC BOLD PAC from 2015 to 2020 and brought the organization to the next level. His leadership in increasing Latina/o representation in Congress is unparalleled, and his role in making and defending Democratic majorities in the House and Senate cannot be understated. We will all miss Tony dearly and will do our best to build on his formidable legacy by continuing to fight for the causes he championed. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve alongside him and I wish him and his entire family the best as they embark on this new chapter.”

BOLD PAC is the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and is dedicated to increasing diversity in the House and Senate by getting more Latinos and Latinas elected.
