CHC BOLD PAC Endorses David Canepa in California’s 15th Congressional District

Washington, D.C. - As part of its commitment to expanding Latino representation in Congress while defending the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, today CHC BOLD PAC is endorsing David Canepa in California's 15th District. BOLD PAC Chairman Ruben Gallego released the following statement on the endorsement:

“The son of a chauffeur and the first in his family to attend college, San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa led his community through the COVID pandemic and protected frontline workers. David is running to fight for middle-class families in Washington with more affordable healthcare and housing, free community college, by tackling climate change, and protecting a woman’s right to choose,”
said CHC BOLD PAC Chairman Ruben Gallego. “As the Palo Alto Daily Post put it, David is a 'roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-it-done kind of guy, who isn’t afraid to step on toes to help his constituents.' We are proud to endorse him."

DAVID CANEPA

The son of a chauffeur and a bank branch manager, David Canepa is a 4th generation son of San Mateo County and lifelong resident with Mexican and Italian heritage. As the former Mayor of Daly City and President of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, David led his community through the COVID pandemic, protecting frontline workers and helping achieve one of the highest vaccination rates in the county. In Congress, David will invest in the middle class through more affordable health care and housing, free community college, tackling climate change, protecting a woman’s right to choose, and equal pay for equal work. Under David’s leadership, San Mateo County has contributed nearly $100 million to build or preserve over 2,000 affordable housing units, including Midway Village in Daly City: the county’s largest affordable housing construction to date. During his tenure, the jobs to housing gap has been narrowed by half. David was the first in his family to graduate, and as Supervisor, David has made free community college tuition a reality for hundreds of San Mateo County students. His wife Ana was born in El Salvador, and he has made immigration reform a priority for San Mateo, working with Sheriff Bolanos to end transfers to ICE and expand the County’s immigration and legal services. He also designated San Mateo County a hate-free zone.

CHC BOLD PAC Respalda a David Canepa para el Distrito Congresional 15 de California

Washington, D.C.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 05, 2025 Contact: Karla Rodriguez Karla@chcboldpac.com TRUMP’S FIRST MONTH HAS ONLY MADE LIFE MORE EXPENSIVE FOR AMERICANS WASHINGTON, D.C. – As President Trump delivered his first speech to a Joint Session of Congress, one fact is clear: his first month in office has done nothing to bring down costs for working families — in fact, he’s hurting their pocketbooks. Instead of fighting to lower prices at the grocery store, reduce the cost of prescription drugs, or lower the costs of housing, Trump has spent his time: Ignoring the spike in egg prices, with the national average hitting $5 in his first month back. Eggs shouldn’t be a luxury. Pressuring Republicans to pass a budget resolution that would cut $2 billion in federal Medicaid funds from each congressional district, gutting health care for 15.9 million Americans . Rolling back an executive order from the Biden administration to lower prescription drug prices to $2. Admitting—twice —that lowering costs and making life more affordable is not his top priority . “Donald Trump promised to help working Americans, but his first month back in the White House has been a disaster for their wallets,” said Chairwoman Linda Sánchez . “He’s proving once again that he’s only looking out for himself while Latino families foot the bill. BOLD PAC remains committed to electing leaders who will put working families first. We won’t let Trump’s disastrous policies go unchecked.” CHC BOLD PAC CHC BOLD PAC is the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and is dedicated to increasing diversity in the House and Senate by helping more Latinos get elected. CHC BOLD PAC led an unprecedented effort in the 2024 cycle, investing $6.1 million in independent expenditures – the largest in BOLD’s history. This insurrection was not just an assault on a building—it was an assault on the very principles that uphold our democratic system,” said CHC BOLD PAC Chairwoman Linda Sánchez. “Today we upheld the peaceful transfer of power—even when elections don't go our way—is a cornerstone of our democracy, and Latino Democrats remained committed to upholding this principle. We will continue working tirelessly to ensure that our democratic processes and institutions serve the American people, no matter the outcome of future elections. “BOLD PAC will remain committed to its mission to fight misinformation, safeguard our democracy, and protect the institutions that uphold our freedoms.
