CHC BOLD PAC Announces Digital Ad Buy in Support of Rudy Salas in California’s 22nd Congressional District
As the first group to weigh in on the general election in a top targeted district, the $250,000 investment reflects BOLD PAC’s intention of being a decisive player in the 2022 midterms
Washington, D.C. - Today CHC BOLD PAC - the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus - announced a $250,000 digital investment in support of Rudy Salas in California’s 22nd Congressional District. The buy will start on September 1st and run through the general election. It will include ads on OTT, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram produced by Latino strategists. The first ads will focus on Salas’ strong record of fighting for residents of the Central Valley while David Valadao abandons working families by voting to take away their health care and voting against capping high insulin costs.
“Rudy Salas is a proven leader who has fought for affordable health care and won. When Kern Medical Hospital’s trauma care center almost closed, he helped ensure that it stayed open. And he voted to lower insulin prices by allowing California to make its own insulin. BOLD PAC stands with Rudy because he’s a fighter and we’re proud to be the first Democratic organization to help him win the general election,”
said Congressman Ritchie Torres.
The ad buy is BOLD PAC’s first investment in the general election this year. California’s 22nd district represents one of the top pick-up opportunities for Democrats this cycle – Biden won the district by roughly 13 points and the Cook Political Report ranks the race as a “Toss Up”. The $250,000 investment makes BOLD PAC the first Democratic organization to weigh in on the general election in this top targeted district and reflects the PAC’s intention of being a decisive player in the 2022 midterms.
The investment is the latest phase of outreach as part of “Our Lucha”, a wide ranging initiative that puts the BOLD PAC at the forefront of the fight for every Latino vote in the midterms and beyond. At 74 percent Hispanic, CA-22 is the most heavily Hispanic district in California. Consistent with Our Lucha’s focus on mobilizing the Latino community from within, the ads are produced by Latino strategists and are designed to resonate with Latino voters in an innovative way. A Neilson report finds that Latinos are spending an increasing amount of time streaming content while the Pew Research Center found that Hispanics rely heavily on YouTube. The focus on digital ads including OTT, Youtube, and other social media reflects BOLD PAC’s commitment to effective outreach that meets Latino voters where they are.
Script for “Fighting for Us”
[NARRATOR]: Valadao says he cares, but votes against us in Washington!
He voted against capping the cost of insulin,
and to steal healthcare from four hundred thousand Central Valley residents.
Rudy Salas fights for the Central Valley every day.
When Kern Medical Hospital’s trauma care center almost closed, he kept it open.
And he voted for California to manufacture insulin here at home,
lowering the cost for our families.
Rudy Salas is fighting for us.
ABOUT CHC BOLD PAC ENDORSED CANDIDATE RUDY SALAS
Born and raised in the Central Valley, Assemblymember Rudy Salas is a lifelong Valley resident, who worked his way from laboring in the fields with his father to graduating from UCLA and becoming the first Latino Bakersfield City Councilmember in its 112 year history. He would make history as the first Latino elected to Congress from the Central Valley.
In his five terms in the California State Assembly, Rudy Salas has stood by his commitment to take a stand for Central Valley families and deliver for the region. Salas has been a steadfast voice for the Valley in the state capitol, fighting for more public safety funding, expanding workforce development programs, expanding veterans’ and workers' rights, clean water infrastructure and support for our small business community. In the past year alone, Assemblymember Salas secured $50 million of dedicated investments for Central Valley projects that will expand local nursing programs and construct an emergency response center, a cooling center, a clean water well, a new building at Bakersfield College - Delano campus, and secured millions for our local students and colleges. Additionally, Assemblymember Salas helped save Kern Medical Hospital from closing its doors and was instrumental in ensuring small business assistance and protective equipment got to residents and frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, Assemblymember Salas is ready to take on this tough challenge and flip California’s 22nd Congressional District to ensure Central Valley residents have the voice and respect in Washington that they deserve.
