Communications Director


CHC BOLD PAC, the campaign arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus is the leading organization electing Latinas and Latinos to the House and Senate and seeks an energetic, bilingual full-time Communications Director. This individual will shape and execute internal and external communications, work with reporters, drive social media and digital presence, and collaborate with a broad array of stakeholders to amplify BOLD PAC’s work. The ideal candidate will have previous campaign and/or Capitol Hill experience, and have a strong understanding of strategic campaign messaging. 


The Communications Director will work closely with the Chair and will report directly to the Executive Director. This role requires strong writing skills, an ability to multitask, attention to detail and a readiness to work in a fast-paced campaign-style environment with Members of Congress and candidates in the most targeted races in the House and Senate battlefield. The Communications Director will demonstrate a strong passion for increasing diversity in Congress and expanding the Congressional Hispanic Caucus by re-electing Latina and Latino incumbents and bringing new Latinas and Latinos to Congress. 


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Design and execute a strategic communications and public relations plan that is aligned with BOLD PAC’s strategic goals
  • Manage media relations, including building relationships with members of the press, monitoring incoming requests, and serving as a point of contact for all media inquiries.
  • Drive an earned media strategy and handle all media requests and prepare and disseminate communications tools such as press releases, op-eds, public statements, speeches, talking points, presentations, media advisories, briefings, and pitch ideas
  • Serve as an on the record spokesperson as needed 
  • Design and execute rapid response efforts 
  • Manage website content, create graphics, suggest digital content and post on social media
  • Support Democratic House and Senate campaigns in the development and execution of communications and media plans
  • Work with partner organizations, surrogates and principals, to amplify BOLD PAC’s work
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • This is an in-person position based in Washington, DC


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 5+ years of professional work in communications and earned media, preferably political campaigns, Capitol Hill, or a related area
  • Experience executing traditional and digital communications strategies
  • Excellent writing skills and an ability draft materials quickly, incorporating strategic communications objectives into written materials
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent copy editing, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Previous on the record experience 
  • Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proficiency in WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, political science or a related discipline preferred


BENEFITS:


  • This is a senior-level position based in Washington DC. The salary range for the Communications Director position is $85,000 to $110,000/year commensurate with experience.
