Cindy Axne represents Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District. Axne is an Iowan native with a history of advocating for local communities. As a mother, she expressed he outrage at the inequity of the local school system, spending a year negotiating with principals, the school board and the superintendent to ensure full-day kindergarten was made available to all students in the district. In 2018, Axne was elected to Congress narrowly defeating the Republican incumbent by less than 2 points, becoming one of the first two women to ever represent Iowa in Congress. Axne serves on the Committees of Agriculture and Financial Services. She is active in her church and lives in West Des Moines with her husband John and their teenage sons, Gunnar and Rafe.
